Tail Waggin Events was started by Denise and Darlene in 2014.
In October of 2013, Denise, through Bayshore Companion Dog Training Club, held a Barn Hunt Seminar given by Sharon Yon at the property owned by Darlene and Jimmy Barnes. The seminar was very successful. In March 2014, under BCDC they held a barn hunt trial. Due to the trials success and the enthusiasm of the participants, Denise and Darlene started Tail Waggin Events to fulfill the niche and to provide a place for people to train and participate in Barn Hunt.
After growing the trials and training and introducing many teams to the sport, who have gone on to earn some of the highest titles in the sport, the decision was made to add other dog sports to TWE. In 2017, a fun day was held in which participants could try barn hunt, earth dog, Fast CAT, agility, etc.
Denise has been involved in competitive dog sports for 20 years and has trained and shown a total of thirteen (8 of her own and 5 for others) dogs to a number of different titles in a number of different sports (agility, obedience, flyball, rally, earth dog, barn hunt, and conformation) and in venues (AKC, United States Dog Agility Association, United Kennel International, American Working Terrier, and North American Flyball Association, North American Dog Agility Council.
Titles earned include MACH on 7 dogs, ADCH on 2 dogs, IAC on 2 dogs, CD on 6 dogs, FDCH on 1 dog, Master Earth dog on 1 dog, and barn hunt titles on 4 dogs.
Significant achievements include: 2004 Top Terrier in AKC agility, qualified at least 1 dog for every AKC agility invitational, qualified at least 1 dog for every AKC agility national since 2003 and earned the championship title in 3 different agility venues, barn hunt and flyball. Breeds trained include: Doberman, Smooth Coat Fox Terrier, Pyrenean Shepherd, Parson Russell Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Shetland Sheepdog, and Golden Retriever.
Currently Denise’s dog Gidget (Gator’s Little Gal) is the highest titled smooth coat fox terrier in barn hunt and first in the breed to earn the RATM to RATCHX4 titles. While Gidget’s accomplishment is fantastic, Australian Shepherd Shirley, owed by Eric Madsen, is currently the top barn hunt dog at RATCHX40 as of March 2018. Eric, who is from Michigan, has attended a number of our training sessions where we had a lot of fun helping them with their various training issues. Eric and Shirley attend many of the TWE events.
Many of the teams who started and trained at TWE have gone on to become very successful earning the highest titles.

Darlene has been in dog sports for 10+ years. Competing in several AKC sports such as Agility, Obedience, AKC Tracking and Earth dog. Along with Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving and Barn Hunt. She is also a member of JRTCA “Jack Russell Terrier Club of America” competing in Agility and Go to Ground. A member of the PRTAA, Parson Russell Terrier Association of America. Darlene’s terriers have earned several titles throughout the years in each sport.
